What is EFF Type1 Translator?
EFF PostScript Type1 Translator, or !effT1T is the new translator of Windows and Mac PostScript fonts to Acorn format. eff T1T is the latest addition to our font tools series which includes already the best selling EFF TrueTypeTranslator and EFF FontTable.
PostScript is the second most common font format in the world and since it works on similar principles as the Risc OS format, the fonts translated with !effT1T should be of noticeably better quality than those converted from TrueType.

- The translated font is fully editable in the font editor, whereas Type1toFont converts fonts into format incompatible with FontEd

This application can be installed only on as many computers as specified in the licence.

effShared application from the Risc OS software page.
Free demo copy
You can download a free demo version of !effT1T application.
The demo version can be very useful for viewing Type1 fonts. It is the full working application, it will:
load Type1 files
display the information about font names, copyright etc.
show samples of the Type1 font
show tables of the font
but it will not
save the font in the Acorn format.
The demo version has a button called "Register", if you click on it and fill an application form and email it to us with your payment details, it will become a full working copy without any restrictions.

Free upgrade
You can download a free !effT1T upgrade to version 4.25
It is a zip file size 188kb readable by !SparkPlug. After downloading it:
- set its type to "archive" and open it with !SparkPlug
- drag the !effT1T icon to a directory where your original !effT1T is stored
- drop it there – upgrading is done!
If for some reason, the upgrade has been corrupted (not an unknown story on internet), you can reinstall your old version from your original disc.
