The Electronic Font Foundry fonts for Closed Captioning
Closed Captioning allows text (normally transmitted as audio signal) to be also displayed overlayed on video. It is often used for subtitling or providing some other information most suitably displayed as lines of text on TV screen.
These fonts can be licensed by developers as they are or, if required, their specification can be modified to developers requirements.
The seven fonts with samples below have been designed according to the EIA 708-B standard specification:
- All the fonts include all the required and optional characters of this specification
- They have similar design sizes and complement each other when used next to each other.
- They have all the letters and symbols required, please the table below. If required, additional letters and symbols could be added to empty slots in the table
- Their names indicate the FCC required styles (proportionally spaced font without serifs, proportionally spaced font with serifs, monospaced font without serifs, monospaced font with serifs, caual font, cursive font and small capitals font)
